Andrew,
I smell some kind of TRICKY......I guess ICC has now found out that the PR has failed...so we're about to be left in the dark to ONLY read summaries.

Hi Andrew,

Let me find out more details for you but this is what I understand:

The International Criminal Court's current building only has two courtrooms. However, the ICC is now running two trials of its own, with a third set to start in late April. Looking at the schedule, it seems that the ICC is doing its best to try to alternate all three trials, as there are weeks where the Taylor trial can proceed all day as normal, and other weeks where the SCSL has to share with the other cases. I'm not sure about the financial arrangements -- it is true the Special Court is renting from the ICC, but I think when that rental arrangement was initially made, the Taylor trial was expected to have finished by now (it was originally projected to end sometime in 2009). If the trial had run to this original projection, the ICC and the SCSL would not be in such a pickle now -- however, through nobody's fault, the trial is running longer. Let me ask Mr. Moriba at the Special Court when he can let us know more about the pro-rating issues that you ask about.

Best,
Tracey

Tracey,

Thank you for your feedback on my question concerning the modified scheduled for taylor's trial. I was however just wondering whether the scsl is in fact renting the facility from the icc as we were given to believe. If so would there be a discount in the rent for the rationing/sharing? If not, is then why not?

Is courtroom 2 the only venue available for such sharing, or is the icc considering taylor's trial to be less important? If not what necessitated the sharing? Does the icc not feel obligated to letting the viewing public know why such an action is necessary and sufficient condition to facilitate its operation at this juncture. In other words, if the icc does not prorate the taylor's trial, the icc's schedule and activities at this moment would be substantially jeopardized.

Tracey, come on, we are not foolish. These people know that this case is a comouflage. These people are pretending. This trial is just a legitimate way of putting taylor away. And that is how the united nations operate. The united nations is an advance image of the cia. Every activity is covert. One will have to be para-pensive, think deeply in order to comprehend their motive. This is a shame for the world. The body that is supposed to be advocating on our behalf is just a big con-artist. What a shame.
